About Rodrigues
Discovered in 1598 by Portuguese navigator Don Diego Rodriguez, the small, self-governing island of Rodrigues is a serene escape located 560km northeast of Mauritius. Measuring only 17.5km long and 8km wide, its 80km coastline boasts about twenty secluded beaches. Known for its rustic simplicity and laid-back Creole charm, this “Cinderella of the Mascareignes” offers a nostalgic glimpse into a “Mauritius of fifty years ago,” moving at the gentle pace of the tortoises that once roamed its shores.
Rodrigues Island offers a variety of attractions, from pristine beaches and world-class diving to cultural experiences and nature reserves. The island boasts a unique blend of colonial heritage and vibrant local culture, making it a charming destination for those seeking a slower pace and authentic travel experience
