Accommodation
Azura has 3 Beach Villas, set in a fantastic location at the end of the property close to the Spa, it is wonderfully private and perfect for honeymooners. The Beach Villas are the smallest of our villas but still offer all of the creature comforts.
Luxury Beach Villas
Azura has 3 Luxury Beach Villas, furnished in contemporary style and just steps from the beach. They are slightly larger than the Beach Villas with a larger private undercover deck.
Infinity Beach Villas
Azura has 10 Infinity Beach Villas. They are furnished in afro-contemporary style and look out over a stunning infinity pool towards the beach and sea beyond. They have the best of our beachfront locations.
Royal Beach Villas
Azura has 2 Royal Beach Villas, which feature infinity edge pools and magnificent sea views. They are 172 square metres, making them the largest and most lavish of all the villas, with 30 metres of picturesque beach frontage on a large beautifully landscaped plot. They are located at the northern end of the property, ensuring the utmost privacy and uninterrupted views. They offer the next level of comfort for the discerning Azura guest to enjoy. The main bedroom and bathroom area is similar to the existing Infinity Beach Villas and guests can now delight in the luxury of their lounge area connected via a walkway with glass sliding doors. The lounge comprises comfortable sofas around a flat-screen television and has its bathroom, as well as a tea/coffee area with a minibar and Nespresso. The sofas can be converted to two beds for any children that may want to share. Outdoor areas are astounding, offering a 10m rim flow pool with a smaller sitting pool on the one end, and a poolside sitting pavilion on the other, from which guests have access straight into the pool. The villa also has a double daybed under latte roof, as well as a single daybed on the deck, a dining area, and a beachside sala, all of which are perfect for relaxing and enjoying your own private space.
Villa Amizade
Villa Amizade means friendship villa in our native Portuguese. This 2 bedroom en-suite villa is located at the western end of the property, with fantastic views out to sea and towards the setting sun. It is perfect for families or couples requiring more space and facilities. It offers a sitting area with flat-screen TV, DVD, Sound Dock and a selection of games, opening onto extensive decking, dining and relaxation areas, including a ‘wine bar’. You can opt for a private chef service, available as a supplement. All the normal Azura design touches and finishes. Maximum occupancy 5 people including children.
Presidential Villa
The Presidential Villa at Azura has been described as one of the best villas anywhere in the Indian Ocean. It has a very secluded private location, some 150m down the beach from the main Azura, and comes with its entrance, helipad, butler-host and private chef. It is the beach house of your dreams. The epitome of style and luxury, with its own unique décor, there are 3 spacious Ensuite bedrooms, indoor and outdoor bathrooms, a media room, a sitting/dining area with ‘wine bar’, a roof terrace with spa hot tub, lounging area, sunloungers and 300-degree views, and huge infinity pool spanning the front of the villa. It is located just footsteps from the beach at the end of our property to ensure maximum privacy, with a fantastic treehouse to catch the afternoon breezes, and a beachfront sala lounging area and sundeck with panoramic views to Bazaruto Island and the Indian Ocean beyond.

Dining & Bars
Food is a key focus at Azura Benguerra Island. The resort’s top international chef’s signature dishes will not disappoint, and nor will the extensive wine cellar, which includes fine wines flown directly from the owner’s chateau in France’s Loire Valley.
Fresh local Mozambican produce, much of it home-caught and home-grown, is put together with contemporary style and flair.
Where to eat is as much of a decision as what to eat. The fine dining restaurant has magnificent uninterrupted views; the Gheko Deck offers informal dining with your feet in the sand, there is also the Star Bar and a wine cellar, which doubles up as a dining venue!
- Meal settings range from informal ‘foot in the sand’ dining experiences, picnics
in secluded spots, to dinner by candlelight on the beach beneath the stars, to
feasting in the comfort and intimacy of your own villa, to tasting dinners in the
Jellyfish Restaurant. As many meals as possible are served outdoors. - Dining Mozambican style is a slow relaxed affair, so please advise your Host if
you are in a rush. - Special dining events include a more formal seven-course tasting menu at least
once a week, as well as Mozambican seafood evenings, also once a week. The
tasting menu is a good opportunity for a dressier evening. - Spawning season (beginning of October to end of November) may affect the
availability of fresh crayfish. At this time the netting of fish is also illegal and
fish supplies dramatically decrease, although some are still available, caught on
the line. As we purchase locally from the fishing community, and try never to serve
any frozen fish or seafood, we ask for understanding over this period, and the
importance of preserving natural resources. - Should you have particular dietary requirements it is advisable to alert the
Retreat as far in advance as possible, as some specialist ingredients may take as
long as 8 weeks to get to us.

For those who want to stay on land, they can tour the island, climb the sand dunes or visit the island’s lakes. Alternatively they can take a dhow and picnic to a deserted beach.

A number of these are guided activities where you have a real chance to learn about the wonderful environment that surrounds us here at Azura. Guided activities are accompanied by our Local Guides who know this area intimately. Activity duration & departure times listed over the following pages are used only as a guideline and can usually be specially tailored to suit your schedule or interests.
Please discuss your requests with your butler/host and Azura’s Activity Coordinators who are available each evening at 7.00 pm in the Star Bar. Activities are very popular so please try to plan early!
Azura's African Spa
Azura’s uniquely African Spa offers signature treatments based on local ingredients and traditions. These include being rubbed down with ground coconut shells, covered head to toe with tamarind and aloe, or gently massaged with warm marula oil. There is a double treatment room at the Spa and couples treatments are usually possible, depending on how many therapists are on the island. In Villa treatments are also possible with a small supplement.
